Making "Tomb Cookies"

The night before Easter we made a fun Easter goody called "Tomb Cookies." It was really cool because this activity walks you through what Christ went through for us, and gives a hands on experience for the kids. The boys really enjoyed making these as well as discussing the entire Easter story. It is very simple and quick to do and gives you lots to think about in regards to what our saviour went through for each one of us. It was really cool in the morning when we got up and opened the "Tomb" (or oven), took out the cookies, bit into them to reveal that the cookies were hollow, or "empty" just like the Tomb was empty because Jesus was ALIVE!!! It was a very tasty visual for all of us! :-)

What are some fun things that you did for Easter to remember the Amazing Resurrection of our Lord??

(Sorry I couldn't post this with the slide show below, I haven't figured out how to do that yet. :-))

I'm still trying to figure out how to publish the post WITH the slide show!

We've made these same cookies the last two years, but not this year, but only because we ended up doing something different. I also found a recipe for tomb rolls. They probably taste better, and don't have as good of symbolism, but there still is some.

We were introduced to this fantastic egg hunt where the plastic eggs are found in a certain order and inside is a scripture from the Biblical account of Easter and a token to go with it (like a dice for the scripture where they cast lots for Christ's clothing while he was on the cross). It is a really good way to help the scriptures to come alive for the kids.

And we went to a reinactment of the biblical account, sort of. It followed the Bible but we were searching for Christ and always just missed Him. So we were at the last supper right after it was finished but were able to hear some of the apostles account of the events. We were at the Garden after Christ had been taken, but were able to hear the witness of the events. We were at the chief pharasie's home after the trial took place. And so forth. But it was very well done and very spiritually moving, as we should always continue to search for Christ. I think it REALLY helped the kids understand more about what Easter is about.
